🌸 Set a Telegram username

Your Telegram @username is the public handle both sides exchange after they agree to connect. Without one, applications fail immediately. One minute to set — it stays valid long-term.

On mobile

• Open Telegram → top-left menu (☰) → Settings
• Tap Username
• Enter an unused name (starts with a letter; digits and underscores allowed; 5+ characters) and save

On desktop

• Telegram Desktop → top-left menu → Settings → Edit profile
• Find Username, fill it in, and save

How to confirm it worked

• The settings page shows a link like https://t.me/your_username — that means it is live
• Return to the bot and apply again; you do not need to re-register

FAQ

• Taken: try another, add digits or an underscore, e.g. anna_remote
• Does changing it break past applications? History stays; the other side sees your latest username — avoid frequent changes
• I do not want my real name public: usernames are unrelated to legal names — pick a work-related handle; channel posts already show you as a number ID
• Still failing after setting one: re-enter the bot from the main menu so the platform refreshes your new username
